On Monday, September 8, 2025, the Lucia Dos Santos Community of the Secular Order
of Discalced Carmelites in Scarborough came together at the Our Lady of Fatima Shrine to celebrate with deep devotion the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary . This
special evening was marked not only by Marian joy but also by significant milestones in the Carmelite vocation.
The festivities began at 6:00 PM with the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament , creating
a moment of silent adoration and thanksgiving. The community then entered into Evening Prayer and a reverent recitation of the Holy Rosary, uniting hearts in prayer to honor Our Lady’s birth. The celebration reached its spiritual peak with the Holy Mass, presided over by Fr. Rajesh Dsouza, who served as both the main celebrant and preacher.
During the liturgy, several important rituals of the Secular Order took place:
Jessica Sorino was admitted to formation, beginning her journey of deepening
commitment to Carmelite spirituality.
Fr. Glass and Erica Meneses made their First Promises, a meaningful step in their
dedication to the Order.
Anne Scoyne made her Solemn Vows, publicly professing her lifelong fidelity and love for the Carmelite way.
The Mass was attended by approximately 200 faithful —family, friends, and
parishioners—who came to share in the joy and grace of this significant occasion.
Following the liturgical celebrations, everyone gathered in the church hall for a vibrant
fellowship . It was an evening filled with food, laughter, music, and heartfelt
conversations —a fitting conclusion to a day that celebrated both faith and community.
This feast not only commemorated Mary’s nativity but also highlighted the living witness
of the Secular Carmelites, who continue to follow her example of humility, love, and service.
May Our Lady of Mount Carmel continue to guide and bless the Lucia Dos Santos
Community as they journey in prayer, fraternity, and commitment to Christ. ✨
